Enrolment policy

1. Rationale behind the enrolment policy

Kaduna international school (KIS) is a school based on British National Curriculum. The language of instruction is English. The school aims to be international in character and consequently need to conform to norms and standards of all international school that follow the national curriculum. Behind an international school, KIS understands that mainly children will seek enrolment at the school having being exposed to different curricular with different approaches to teaching and learning. However, the school is confident that the curriculum it follows and the norms and standards that are set in terms if it placement and early requirement, is a well-researched approach to education and the most relevant for pupils in the international context.

  • To regulate the age criteria for entrance to the school at a particular year level
  • To place the pupil in relevant year groups
  • To make sure that pupils enrolled at the school are placed in a class where their social, emotional, cognitive and psychological need are effectively catered for
  • To ensure that pupils potential is maximised

4. Grade year level requirements

Because of the different entry ages of pupils in different countries and the different norms and standards of various curriculums around the world, the following shall be the approximate equivalence placement at KIS

5. Enrolment policy

  • Parents/Guardian should complete the Kaduna International School Registration form. This is available from the school office
  • An interview is arranged with the administrator or academic coordinator. All other required documents – passport size photos, birth certificate, medical forms and previous school records should be brought along to this interview.
  • In almost all cases, a child will be placed in the relevant year class (dependent on their age as at 1st September of the year).
  • Tuition fees for the first term are payable on entry.

Kaduna International School will aim to admit children in each school grade up to, but not exceeding the schools standard number of 16 children in early years and primary.

6. Roles of the parents

Kaduna International School expert’s parents/ guardians to:

  • Be willing to work with their child at home (i.e. encourage reading, help with homework)
  • Be pro-active in communicating with their child’s teachers
  • Take an active role in the life of the school
  • Pay tuition fees on time in accordance with the tuition fee policy

Students will be placed in appropriate classes through a process that is equitable and consistently applied across all sections of Kaduna International School.
